Casting about for a way to make my travels more interesting and make myself more useful, I learned about an organization based in Olympia, one of whose board members I had worked with in Veterans for Peace. They have projects in a number of countries--primarily in Africa--which train local people to build inexpensive water filters for their homes and communities, and for re-sale. I found that there was to be a training in June 2013, and I arranged to attend. These pages are a product of those 6 days I spent with Friendly Water for the World
