In
Vicuņa--my favorite Chile town--I met Vivian. We became good
friends.
She
introduced me to Ricardo, who in turn introduced me to...
...Libertad,
another "earth woman" like Sofia (but very different).
She
lives somewhat primitively, but has a most healthy lifestyle and a small
footprint on the planet.
I
use the term "earth woman" to denote one who lives close to the
soil, with little concrete or steel intervening

Approaching
her house from the dirt road, a bamboo fence.
Her
bedroom is the only structure with a non-dirt floor
And
she's made it quite charming inside
But
the rest of her dwelling spaces--kitchen, storeroom, work room, bath--are
relatively simple structures.
A
dirt walkway passes by the kitchen and work room.

I
brought lunch one day, and we ate in her work room.
She
does ceramics, makes marmalades and other edibles, and is setting up a
small store to market them.
